display energy certificates

A DEC Certificate informs visitors to public buildings about the energy use of that building. Similar to an energy performance certificate, DEC certificates provide an energy rating of the building from A to G, where A is very efficient and G shows the lowest building energy efficiency, but unlike EPC’s, DEC certificates are based on the actual amount of metered energy used by the building over a period of 12 months.

The DEC Certificate should be displayed in a prominent place, clearly visible to the public and have a valid advisory report available for inspection. Envitae can arrange for a qualified Energy Assessor to carry out an inspection for a DEC certificate, you will then be compliant with government legislation and have the opportunity to consider the building energy efficiency, with a view to potentially improving it and lowering its running costs. DEC Certificates must be renewed every 12 months, we can advise on renewal certificates.

At Envitae, we don't sell or rent, manage or service property, we just specialise in commercial property energy compliance. Offering advice and assistance with energy compliance, we can help you comply with government legislation and improve your building energy efficiency, supplying you with any necessary inspections and certification. Our focus is on providing exemplary service and guidance, we will deal with your energy compliance requirements from start to finish, offering invaluable advice and carrying out inspection and certification swiftly and professionally. A recent survey showed 100% of our existing customers would recommend Envitae.

A DEC certificate and advisory report are legally required for buildings with a total useful floor area over 1,000m2 that are occupied in whole or part by public authorities and by institutions providing public services to a large number of visitors. This legislation came in to effect from 1st October 2008. The current regulations are expected to change with a reduction of useful floor area to 250m2 and the definition of a public building to cover all buildings with public access. This could include Retail stores and shopping centres as well as places like Health and Fitness Clubs.
